Cleopas R. Johnson Park Initiative

History
The Friends of Cleopas R. Johnson Park, formed in July 2007, operates out of The John Hope Community Center, which boarders the park and serves The Villages at Castleberry Hill. The Friends of Cleopas R. Johnson
Park began with collaboration between Community and Housing Initiatives and Clark Atlanta University’s Upward Bound Program, with assistance from Park Pride. Adopted by CHIC and CAU with a small ceremony during this past summer, friends, residents and commu¬nity stakeholders began meeting regularly to form what is now The Friends of Cleopas R.
Johnson Park.

Mission
To support the adoption, use and ownership of the park, by increasing neighborhood safety, community mobilization and volunteerism while encouraging cultural, intergenerational and international relationships
through the promotion of environmental appreciation.

Vision
To design and implement park improvements that adequately reflect community input and will directly compliment future developments of the neighborhood and bring improved use and increased public safety in
and around Cleopas R. Johnson Park.
